The s.s. " Nevassa," of Glasgow, 133,102, arrived from Calcutta on the 29th
December, having landed a case of Small-pox at Colombo on the 30th November last.
No further cases occurred.
All disinfection was carried out at Colombo, and on arrival at Gravesend all on
board were found to be well.

As will be seen from the preceding table, there was in September an outbreak of
Scarlet Fever on the training ship " Exmouth" belonging to the Metropolitan Asylums
Board. The outbreak did not attain the proportions of an epidemic, but was passed on
from case to case until December—the total number of cases reported to me being 27.
All the cases were removed to the Board's Hospitals for treatment.
