Formerly the District Council of Rotherhithe was a Registration Authority
under the Canal Boats Acts, but with the formation of the Metropolitan
Boroughs under the London Government Act, 1899, the Council of
Rotherhithe ceased to exist and the district became merged partly into the
Metropolitan Borough of Deptford and partly into the Metropolitan Borough
of Bermondsey,
Neither of these Boroughs, however, have been constituted a Registration
Authority under the Acts, and the owner was therefore called upon to register
the boat with the Port of London Registration Authority, and in the end, the
boat was re-registered accordingly,
I have the honour to be, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
HERBERT WILLIAMS,
Medical Officer of Health, Port of London.
