HOUSING
I am indebted to the Town Clerk, the Borough Engineer and Surveyor,
and the Chief Public Health Inspector for the following information, which
is given in connection with rehousing, the erection of new houses, and
overcrowding:—
Rehousing

Housing Act, 1957
Ninety-six houses were rendered fit as a result of informal or statutory
action under the Public Health Act, 1936 and Housing Act, 1957.

In the absence of a complete survey of the Borough, it is impossible
to give accurate figures relating to the number of cases of overcrowding.
Evidence available indicates that the number is low. The table below sets
out information concerning cases of overcrowding which have come to
the knowledge of the Health Department.
