Food Hygiene Regulations, 1955
The revisiting of food premises continued during 1959. The type of
premises visited and number of inspections are set out below:

Catering Premises 104
Confectioners (sugar) 35
Fishmongers 30
Greengrocers 23
Grocers 93
Milk Shops 5
Registered Premises 104
Other Food Premises 60
As a result of these visits, shopkeepers were persuaded to carry out
the improvements listed on page 37. It was not necessary to institute
legal proceedings.

SAMPLING.
On 1st April, 1940, the Corporation became the Food and Drugs
Authority for the Borough, and took over the duties under the Act from
the Surrey County Council.
Dr. H. Amphlett Williams, Ph.D.(Lond.), A.C.G.F.C., F.R.I.C., of
City of London Laboratories, King's Head Yard, Borough High Street,
London, S.E.I, is Public Analyst for the Borough.
