REPORT OF THE CHIEF
SANITARY INSPECTOR FOR THE YEAR, 1954
HOUSING
The number of houses inspected during the year showed a surprising
increase over the previous year. This was due to an increase in
complaints received and the resumption of systematic inspections under
the Housing (Consolidated) Regulations.
One house was closed and two others acquired with a view to future
demolition.
Two hundred and sixteen houses were rendered fit as a result of informal
or statutory action under the Public Health Act, 1936.
Twelve applications were received for Certificates of Disrepair
(Housing Repairs & Rents Act, 1954). Eleven certificates were issued.

BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF MILK

Ninety-seven samples of milk were submitted for examination. The results of the tests are set out below:
