HOUSING
No statistics in the tabular form usually required by the Ministry of
Health are submitted. The Minister has not asked for this information
and, owing to the present chaotic state of housing repairs and the difficulty
in remedying defects, such statistics would not give an accurate picture
of housing as a whole.
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
MILK
During the year the following samples of milk sold within the district
were examined:

Total 96
Two samples of pasteurised milk failed to comply with the methylene
blue test.
MEAT
No animals intended for sale for human consumption were slaughtered
in the Borough during the year.
FOOD AND DRUGS ACT, 1938
On 1st April, 1940, the Corporation became the Food and Drugs
Authority for the Borough, and took over the duties under the Act from
the Surrey County Council.
Dr. H. Amphlett Williams, Ph.D.(Lond.), A.C.G.F.C., F.R.I.C., of
1 Southwark Street, London, S.E.I, is Public Analyst for the Borough.
