As in the previous year, no cases of diphtheria were notified. This is
gratifying to note, and illustrates the advantage of having as many
children as possible immunised.
The Corporation can again be congratulated on having completed a
year reasonably free from disease and showing a good health record.
On page 28 is set out the record of the use of the swimming bath at
Beddington Orphanage. Considerable satisfaction was expressed throughout
the Borough at the Corporation's continuation of its policy to make
this bath available to residents and school children during the summer
months.
In conclusion, I wish to place on record my appreciation of the loyal
service and valuable assistance I have received from all the members
of my staff throughout the year.
I am,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
PATRICK J. O'CONNELL,
July, 1951. Medical Officer of Health.
