Orthopædic. Patients attending the Centres who require treatment
for orthopædic defects are referred by the Medical Officer of Health to
the Orthopædic Departments of the St. Helier, the Croydon General and
Guy's Hospitals.
ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT : SOLARIUM.
During 1948, its 4th year of operation, 546 new patients attended the
the Solarium, the total attendances for all cases being 7,469.
This Clinic maintains its popularity and the doctors in charge of the
Maternity and Child Welfare Centres continue to refer many children
and mothers for treatment. In addition, school children from maintained
schools in the Mid-Eastern Divisional Executive area are enabled to
attend.

In addition to the attendances for irradiation as shown in the foregoing
table, 1,938 corrective treatments were carried out by the Physiotherapist
either at the Solarium or in the home of the patient.
