Beddington and Wallington 1946

Orthopaedic. Patients attending the Centres who require treatment
for orthopsedic defects are referred by the Medical Officer of
Health to the Orthopaedic Departments of the St. Helier County, the
Croydon General and Guy's Hospitals. During the year 36 cases were
so referred and treated.
ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT: SOLARIUM.
During 1946, its second year of operation, the Solarium treated 718
individual patients, making a total of 9,518 attendances.
This Clinic continues to grow in popularity, and the doctors in
charge of the Maternity and Child Welfare Centres continue to refer
many children and mothers for treatment. In addition, school
children from maintained schools in the Mid-Eastern Divisional
Executive area are enabled to attend, the fee being paid by the Surrey
County Council.

HEALTH VISITING.
As noted previously, the Corporation now employs three full-time
Health Visitors, who work under the supervision of the Medical Officer
of Health.

From the following summary of their work, it will be seen that, although the third Health Visitor only took up her duties for the latter part of the year, the number of visits has been substantially increased, the total being more than doubled: —
