his report for 1942. Occasionally, cases of obvious deficiency of both
Vitamins C and D have been observed among young children, and
have, as far as possible, been corrected. As regards Vitamin D deficiency
which is often responsible for delayed dentition, nervous irritability
and other symptoms, such as weak ankles and bowed limbs,
it is hoped that the establishment of a solarium for the application
of artificial sunlight treatment will, in the early future, prove of great
assistance in remedying the condition.
In conclusion, I wish to place on record my appreciation of the
loyal service and valuable assistance I have received from all the
members of my staff throughout the year.
I have the honour to be,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
CHAS. A. BENTLEY,
Medical Officer of Health
