As from the 28t,h September, 1942, by instruction of the Council, a
fortnightly instead of a weekly house refuse collection was instituted.
The type of receptacle in use throughout the Borough is the portable
galvanised iron covered dustbin.
The Council do not undertake the removal of the contents of earth
closets and cesspools from private premises. The occupiers of the
premises concerned carry out the work in a satisfactory manner.
The Croydon Corporation commenced' tipping in the latter part
of the year 1940 on a site in the Borough north of Therapia Lane.
This work is continuing satisfactorily and is under constant supervision
by the Council's Officers.
SANITARY INSPECTION OF THE AREA.
The following statement by the Senior Sanitary Inspector gives
statistics as to the number of complaints received, inspections made,
defects remedied, and other work carried out by the Sanitary
Inspectors.
