PREVENTION OF BLINDNESS.
The Authority for administering the various provisions of the Acts
dealing with blind persons is the Surrey County Council.
No special scheme for the Borough, apart from the general provisions
by the Surrey County Council quoted above, has been prepared
under Section 176 of the Public Health Act, 1936.
For children of pre-school age, an arrangement has been made
with the London County Council by which children suffering from
Ophthalmia Neonatorum are admitted for treatment to a London
County Council Hospital. Other visual defects in this group are seen
by the Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Croydon General Hospital under
an arrangement between the local authority and the authorities of the
Croydon General Hospital.
