NON-NOTIFIABLE DISEASES.
Returns from the local education authority keep the department
informed of the incidence of these diseases in children attending the
elementary schools.
It is gratifying to note that during the war year under review,
there was no prevalence of non-notifiable diseases among school
children. Diseases of the skin and respiratory systems, which might
have been expected to be high, were at a low ebb.
TUBERCULOSIS.
There were 33 new cases notified during the year.

The annual case rate for Pulmonary Tuberculosis per 1,000 of
population for 1941 was 1.08 compared with 0.73 for 1940.
The annual case rate for Non-Pulmonary Tuberculosis per 1,000
of population for 1941 was 0.19 compared with 0.04 for 1940.

It will be seen from the foregoing table that 11 deaths were registered
as due to Tuberculosis, of which 7 were Pulmonary and 4 NonPulmonary.
The figures correspond to a death rate per 1,000 of population
of 0.33 for Pulmonary Tuberculosis and 0.11 for Non-Pulmonary
Tuberculosis.
Of the 11 deaths which occurred 1 was an unnotified case, i.e.,
9.1 per cent, of the total Tuberculosis deaths. Investigation as to the
