During the year 281 expectant mothers attended the Clinic as
compared with 246 in 1940. This represents approximately 94 per
cent, of the total notified births (live and still) which occurred in the
Borough during 1941. The figures for 1940 are shown in the table
for comparison purposes.
POST-NATAL CLINIC.
Post-natal cases are seen as they present themselves at the antenatal
clinic and it is estimated that about 32 per cent of the cases
seen at the ante-natal sessions return for post-natal examinations
after their confinements.
In December, 1941, Dr. Winifred Small, the Ante-natal Medical
Officer, resigned her appointment, her services being replaced by
those of Doctors Kelly and Falla.
Dr. Small's resignation was due to ill-health, consequent upon
the increased pressure of work resultant from the war.
CONSULTANT ANTE-NATAL AND POST-NATAL CLINIC.
The Consultant Clinic continued to be held throughout the year
on the third Friday in each month by Mr. Douglas Lindsay, M.D..
