CONSULTANT OBSTETRICIAN.
As reported in a previous section, Mr. Douglas Lindsay, M.D., Ch.B.,
F.R.F.P.S. (G.), M.C.O.G., was asked to conduct the Consultant Antenatal
and Post-natal Clinics and act generally as consultant for the
Council's services.
Mr. Lindsay's appointment is in addition to that held by Mr.
Leslie Williams, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.S.
HOME HELP.
No change was made during the year in the Council's scheme,
whereby a Home Help is provided on application, to assist in domestic
duties during confinements occurring in the homes of residents. A
Home Help was provided in 13 cases during the year.
BIRTH CONTROL.
The Council have made arrangements for women who need information
on birth control, on the grounds of health, to attend a voluntary
centre at Croydon. During 1938, 19 women from the Borough
attended this clinic.
TREATMENT.
Orthopaedic. Patients who attend the Centres and require treatment
for orthopaedic defects are referred by the Medical Officer of
Health to the Orthopaedic Department of the Croydon General
Hospital. During the year 16 cases (defects of the feet, bow legs, knock
knees, etc.) received treatment.

Dental. During 1938 50 cases were referred for treatment under the Councils' scheme as follows:—
