During the year 237 expectant mothers attended the Clinic, as
compared with 200 in 1937. This represents approximately 61 per cent.
of the total notified births (live and still) which occurred in the
Borough during 1938. The total number of attendances made at the
51 sessions was 1,019, as compared with 804 in 1937.
POST-NATAL CLINIC.
Post-natal cases are seen as they present themselves at the antenatal
clinic and it is estimated that about 37 per cent. of the cases
seen at the ante-natal sessions return for post-natal examinations
after their confinement. This figure is relatively small, but it is anticipated
that when the consultant post-natal clinics are in operation, the
attendances will increase.
Dr. Winifred Small continues to act as Ante-natal Medical Officer
and her services have been greatly appreciated.
MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE CENTRES.
There has been no change since the previous year in the days on
which sessions are held.
