TUBERCULOSIS.
The treatment of cases of Tuberculosis is under the control of the
Surrey County Council, who provide both sanatorium and dispensary
treatment.
The two dispensaries available for residents of the Borough are
situated at Mitcham and Carshalton, the sessions being held as
follows:—
Mitcham (Western Road):—
First, third and fifth Tuesday of month at 1.30 p.m.
Each Thursday at 1 p.m. and fourth Thursday at 5.30 p.m.
Carshalton (Rochester Road):—
Every Friday at 10 a.m.
Third Tuesday of month at 5.30 p.m.
IMMUNISATION AGAINST DIPHTHERIA.
In May, 1937, the Council approved the Medical Officer of Health's
scheme for the immunisation of children against Diphtheria.
The scheme commenced operation late in 1937, and only a few
cases were reported on last year.
The figures for 1938 show a gratifying response on the part of the
parents.

The following table gives the numbers of children who were treated during the year:—

No cases of illness have resulted from the injections and no child
has been prevented from following his normal daily routine on treatment
days.
The treatment at present in use consists of three injections of
1 cubic centimetre of Toxoid Antitoxin Floccules (T.A.F.) at intervals
