The following table gives the age and cause of death of each infant who died:—

4 days.Jaundice and inanition. Premature birth.
1 week.Convulsions. Inanition.
1 month.Acute nephritis.
1 month.Congenital abnormality of heart.
6 months.Infantile convulsions. Gastric catarrh.
7 months.Acute gastro-enteritis.

Seven, or 58.3 per cent., of the deaths occurred in the first week
of life; 8, or 65.7 per cent., occurred in the first month; and 4, or 33.3
per cent., from the second to the twelfth month.
