COMPLAINTS.

Eighty-one complaints were received during the year, and were due to the following causes:—

Defects in dwelling houses27
Drainage defects (including stoppages)20
Accumulations of offensive refuse6
Animals kept so as to be a nuisance6

All the complaints received prompt attention.
INCREASE OF RENT (RESTRICTIONS) ACTS.
Two applications for Certificates under the above Acts
were received during the year. A Certificate was granted
in each case.
RATS AND MICE (DESTRUCTION) ACT, 1919.
One hundred and seven visits were paid to premises
where rats were prevalent. In addition to this number,
inquiries were made during routine inspections of premises,
and advice given where necessary. Certain structural
defects which encouraged the entry of rats into premises
were remedied.
The number of notices sent to occupiers during the year
was 114.
OFFENSIVE TRADES.
There are no offensive trades carried on within the
District.
