237 cases, and in 1891 only 102 cases were reported. This Table
and the following Table,* together with the Special Report on the
year's work which I have included in the Appendix, represents an
amount of patient, persevering, and intelligent interest on the part
of your Inspectors, which demands warm recognition at my hands.
The house-to-house inspection has been performed at such times as
could be arranged, and a record is preserved of all such examinations.
/
Although the carrying out of the Food and Drugs Act does
not come within my province, I have thought its work would be
a fitting adjunct to my Report upon the District Health Work,
and your Inspector has been asked to compile a brief record of
his proceedings during the year. It is added to the Appendix.
The extra Metropolitan Asylums' deaths are now included in
the Returns of Deaths occurring in Outlying Public Institutions,
because I now receive the details of both, v/eekly, from the Registrar-General's
Office.
