The population of the area at the present time is, as above-stated, 2,106. In
1877 it was 2,307. There are now forty empty rooms within the area, and several
ground floor rooms have recently been converted into shops, which accounts for the
reduction of the population. The total number of shops in the area is 104. In addition
to the 298 houses in the area, there are the Jews' Free Schools, which have been
recently erected, the London General Omnibus Company's Yard and Stables, and
other buildings. RICHARD SKIDMORE WRACK,
18th Octobee, 1883. Sanitaey Inspector.
