confidently state that they either had fever in the incubative stage
when they entered the lodging-houses, or that they took the disease while
they remained there, for I have no means of ascertaining the length of time each
lodger remained in the lodging-house before his removal to the Workhouse;,
but it is manifest that in all those cases that remained in tho Workhouse for
a less period than eight days, fever did not originate therein, for the period
of incubation of fever is about eight, nine, or ten days.
