The total number of holdings shall be 888, and are thus set forth, viz.:
121 holdings of 1 room each, 650 of 2 rooms each, and 117 of 3 rooms
each ; making the total number of rooms 1772. The 121 holdings of a
single room are intended to accommodate 302 persons, or on an average,
2.5 persons to each room. The 650 holdings of 2 rooms each are intended
for the accommodation of 2925 persons, or on an average, 4.5 persons to
each holding. The 117 holdings are intended for the accommodation of
643 persons, or on an average, 5.5 persons to each holding. These returns
will be perhaps better understood by transferring to this report the table as
given in the Provisional Order.

Each Block shall, according to the number and size of holdings therein,
be furnished with water-closets, sinks and water supply, and dust-shoots.
The buildings on the lands constituting the improvement area, when
the same shall have been acquired, shall be taken down and removed in
sections of buildings, and new buildings upon the said lands shall be erected
according to regulations to be from time to time made in that behalf by
the Metropolitan Board of Works, with the approval of one of Her
Majesty's Secretaries of State.
Cartwright-street shall be widened to 30 feet, and extended southward
into Upper East Smithfield.
Glasshouse-street shall be widened to 30 feet from Royal Mint-street
to Sir Henry Peek's premises.
A roadway 20 feet wide shall be formed in continuation of Blue
Anchor-yard, so as to maintain the present access to the arches under the
Great Eastern Railway Viaduct.
In the Provisional Scheme, as sanctioned by the Home Secretary, the
superficial area of the rooms is not mentioned, but in the Scheme as prepared
by the Board of Works the superficial area for single rooms is
proposed to be 140 feet; for the tenements of 2 rooms, each tenement
shall contain an aggregate clear area of not less than 250 feet; and for the
tenements of 3 rooms, each tenement shall contain an aggregate clear area
of not less than 350 feet.
