The Bye-laws as set forth above will probably have the effect of improving
the sanitary condition of the several slaughter-houses, and as they apply to
all the districts in the Metropolis which are under the jurisdiction of Vestries
and District Boards, a uniformity of laws relating to the regulation of these
places will be enforced, and the Bye-laws which have been made by the
several Yestries and District Boards will be superceded.
I am of opinion that if the Metropolitan Board of Works had similar
powers to frame Bye-laws for the regulation of cow-houses, many of the evils
now arising from cow-houses in the Metropolis would be abated.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
15, Great Alie Street. JOHN LIDDLE.
