Note.—The Inspectors beg to remark, that the return above shewn is numerically correct as far as it is possible to be arrived at, many of the works being now
in hand, others only partially completed, some standing over by sanction of the Board, from various causes, such as want of sewerage, &c., and some of the property
has been pulled down. The number of houses inspected (see second column) is agreeable to the different returns handed over to the Medical Officers by the
Inspectors, and is quite distinct from the number of houses visited where nuisances existed. These latter, in round numbers, exceed 3000.
