During the year in 45 cases 100% was paid tb persons in receipt of
supplementary pensions and whose applications were supported by the
Ministry of Social Security.
Contraventions of Smoke Control Orders occur from time to time and
these are dealt with mainly by informal action. The new Clean Air Act
1968 will make it an offence to deliver raw coal to houses in Smoke
Control areas, and this measure, it is hoped, will go a long way in reducing
contraventions.
(c) Other activities
Ten notifications of intention to instal new furnaces have been
received during the year.
