DEATHS
During the year 516 deaths were registered, a decrease of 50 compared
with those recorded in 1963, the rate per thousand being 10.8 compared with
an average of 11.3 for England and Wales. The infant mortality rate was
9.8 compared with the figure of 20.0 for England and Wales. 25 males and
6 females died from lung cancer, 2 more than in the previous year. The
death rates from this condition per 1,000 population were 1,169 for males
and 0.239 for females as compared with the rates of 0.932 and 0.160 respectively
for England and Wales.
