NOTES ON UNSATISFACTORY SAMPLES.
Cleaned Currants.
An informal sample of cleaned currants was submitted to the
Public Analyst who reported that in his opinion owing to the amount of
sand and other earthy matter present they were not suitable for use without
prior washing and should not be described as cleaned currants. The
retailer agreed to discontinue the use of the word 'cleaned' in connection
with these currants.
Veal Stuffing.
An informal sample of veal stuffing was submitted to the Public
Analyst who reported that the label did not specify the ingredients as
required by the Labelling of Food Order, 1953.
The matter was referred to the manufacturers who immediately
made arrangements for the printing of suitable labels.
MILK.
During the year the following licences were issued under the
Milk (Special Designations) (Raw Milk) Regulations, 1949, or the Milk
(Special Designations) (Pasteurised and Sterilised Milk) Regulations,
1949 - 1954.
