The death rate from tuberculosis per 1,000 of the population
was 0.11 the same as the rate for England and Wales.
30 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were notified, 11 more than
in 1956.

At the end of the year the following numbers of cases were suffering from the disease and living in the district, the total being the same as that for the previous year.
