To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors
of the Borough of Maiden and Coombe,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present my second annual report on the
work carried out by your sanitary inspectors during the year.
Recruitment of staff these days is a major difficulty and
seriously interfered with the work of the Department. A vacancy
for the post of Additional Sanitary Inspector was unfilled for
three months and the post of General Assistant and Mortuary
Attendant, which became vacant in September, was still unfilled at
the end of the year.
It is pleasing to report that it was not necessary during the
year to resort to Court action to enforce notices under the Public
Health or Housing Acts.
