DEATHS.
During the year 446 deaths were registered, a decrease of 1
compared with those recorded in 1951, the rate per thousand being
10.1 compared with an average of 11.3 for England and Wales.
The infantile mortality rate was 17.2 per thousand, an exceptionally
low rate, comparing with the figure of 27.6 for England and
Wales. One death occurred from maternal causes.
