DEATHS.
During the year 393 deaths were registered, a decrease of
40 compared with those recorded in 1949, the rate per thousand
being 8 7 compared with an average of 11.6 for England and
Wales. The infantile mortality rate was 16 9 per thousand live
births, an exceptionally low rate, comparing with the figure of
29 8 for England and Wales.
