The fall in the number of new cases of tuberculosis experienced
in 1944 was not maintained, and the notifications approximated
to the 1943 level. These are, however, still well below
the figures for the early war years. With improvements in early
diagnosis it is not expected that in the near future notification
rates are likely to fall quickly.
