In addition to the above much time was spent in dealing
with quantities of foodstuffs destroyed or damaged by
enemy action during the fly bomb period. It would be
impossible, even if desirable, to enumerate all the various
commodities and the amounts as much was so damaged as
to be unrecognisable. It was possible, however, in cooperation
with the Salvage officers of the Ministry of Food,
to save a very large quantity such as sugar, flour and meat
and the expenditure of some considerable amount of time
was amply justified.

shopkeepers to claim compensation and refund of points
