RAG FLOCK ACT, 1911 AND 1928.
There are no known premises in the district where
Rag Flock is manufactured or sold.
PREMISES AND OCCUPATIONS WHICH CAN BE
CONTROLLED BY BYELAWS OR REGULATIONS.
There appear to be no premises or occupations in
the District which necessitate Byelaw control or regulations
operated by the District Council with the exception
of eight fish frying businesses (scheduled as offensive
trades), two slaughterhouses and the dairies and cowsheds.
The consents given by the Council to the establishment
of fish frying businesses in five instances are
limited to periods of twelve months and for such extension
thereof as may from time to time be granted, whilst
the other four are not subject to any limitation of time.
FACTORIES ACT.
The Factories Act, 1937, came into operation on 1st
July, 1938. This Act consolidates, with amendments, the
Factory and Workshops Acts, 1901 to 1929, and other
enactments relating to factories.
Several administrative changes have thus been
brought about. The old distinction between a factory
and a workshop is abolished and the expression "workshop"
disappears, only one term, "factory," being
employed. For certain purposes, however, a distinction
is drawn between factories where mechanical power is
used and factories where mechanical power is not used.
The Local Authority is now required to keep a
register of all factories within its district with respect to
which it is responsible for the enforcement of any of the
provisions of Part I of the Act. These may be summarised
as follow:—
