The very few cesspools are emptied and cleansed by
owners as and when required.
Movable ashbins, with few exceptions, are general
throughout the district.
As earth closets and privies are practically nonexistent,
no special arrangements exist for the disposal
of the contents thereof.
SEWAGE DISPOSAL WORKS.
In my last report I included a section written by Mr.
Goldthorp, Borough Engineer and Surveyor, regarding
the above, which included details of the proposed
extensions at the main works and of the new pumping
station at Kingston Vale.
The extensions at the main works were commenced
in February and were progressing satisfactorily at the
end of the year and the new pumping station at Kingston
Vale was commenced at the end of December.
Full details of these works will be given in my next
report.
Houses draining to Sutton.
Sewage from 444 houses on the Station Estate,
Worcester Park, is pumped to the Borough of Sutton and
Cheam Sewage Disposal Works for treatment.
Houses draining to the Wandle Valley Works.
Sewage from 89 houses on the Kingston By-Pass Road
drain to the works of the Wandle Valley Joint Drainage
Board.
REFUSE TIPPING.
House refuse, tipped by an adjoining Authority, near
the western boundary of the district, appears to have caused
no nuisance and no complaints were received. Periodical
inspections were made during the year.
I anticipate that by the end of the current year the
tipping of refuse within this area, by an outside authority,
will cease.
