SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
ANNUAL REPORT
OF
THE SANITARY INSPECTOR
1938
Public Health Department,
Municipal Offices,
New Malden.
To The Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the pleasure to submit my nineteenth annual
report of work accomplished and matters of interest concerning
the Sanitary Department.
House to house inspections have been carried out in a
number of streets.
For the purpose of abating nuisances, destruction of
rats, and executing repairs to render houses fit for human
habitation, the following notices were served:—
Preliminary. Formal.
Notices served 261 33
Complied 247 30
Remaining outstanding 14 3
It was not necessary to institute legal proceedings
for the abatement of nuisances or other sanitary matters.
Good relations have been maintained with property
owners and much work has been done and supervised
without notice or on verbal request.
Fifty-two houses were under construction by the
Corporation during the year. Building by private enterprise
has not made such rapid progress as in the previous
few years. Thirty-eight working-class houses were constructed
by the Kingston Corporation in Stafford and
Lincoln Roads.
