GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES IN
THE AREA.
Laboratory Facilities.
New arrangements were made for carrying out
bacteriological examinations for the Council. The opening
of a laboratory and the appointment of a pathologist
at Kingston Victoria Hospital now makes it possible to
have these examinations carried out locally and thus the
inconvenience and delay occasioned by sending specimens
to London is avoided. The cost of bacteriological investigations
required by medical practitioners in diphtheria,
enteric fever, tuberculosis and certain other special eases
is defrayed by the Council.
