THE PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1925, SECTION 62.
THE PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936, SECTION 172.
It has not been found necessary to take any formal
action under the above Regulations or Acts. The first
relates to tuberculous employees in the milk trade, and
the latter give power to a Council to apply for an order
for the compulsory removal to Hospital of a person
suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis, if certain conditions
obtain so that serious risk of infection is thereby
caused to other persons.
No action has been taken during the year under
section 66 of the Public Health Act, 1925, or section 176
of the Public Health Act, 1936, for the prevention of
blindness or for the treatment of persons suffering from
any disease or injury to the eyes.
The puerperal pyrexia rate was again low and without
fatality. All conditions of notifiable pyrexia following
childbirth are now returnable under this heading
and the term " puerperal fever " disappears.
An extensive epidemic of mumps prevailed in April
and May.
Whooping cough was prevalent in the Spring and
gave rise to three deaths, all in children under one year.
