Under the Public Health (Tuberculosis) Regulations,
a register of all notified cases is kept in the Public Health
Department. Weekly returns of new cases are sent to
the County Medical Officer, and at the end of each
quarter a numerical return is made showing the cases
added to or removed from the Register, together with
the number remaining at the end of the quarter. The
continual movement of patients to and from the district
entails constant supervision in order that the register
may present a true record. Careful watch is kept on
the home conditions of patients in the register in order
that any defects in their mode of living which might
tend to spread the disease can be amended.
