SUMMER DIARRHŒA.
(Generally prevalent from the beginning of July to the
end of October).
This disease is very dangerous, especially to young
children, old people, and those in delicate health. In all
cases obtain medical advice at once.
The disease is chiefly introduced into the body by food,

Do not give children uncooked fruit, especially plums.
Give Special Attention to Milk.

ventilated place, and be most particular that all vessels
used for it are kept scrupulously clean, by washing in boiling
water.
Heat it before using:—
Either stand the jug of milk in a saucepan of water,
and keep the water boiling for twenty minutes—this is the
better way—or
Boil the milk in the ordinary way.
All feeding bottles should be scalded each time they
are used, and kept in water when not in use; do not use
bottles with tubes or tubing.
Protect all Foods and Drinks from Flies.
All houses should be kept clean, and doors and windows
kept open as much as possible. All floors should be frequently
scrubbed, and washed over with soap and water.
See that all closet pans are kept clean, and back yards
frequently swilled with water where possible. Be particular
