PRINCIPAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES.
The diseases which come under this category are:—
Small Pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough,
Diphtheria, the fevers (Typhus, Enteric and Continued),
and Diarrhoea.
The total number of deaths resulting from these
diseases was 9, viz.:-
Diphtheria 5
Measles —
Diarrhoea 2
Enteric Fever —
Whooping Cough 2

Diphtheria caused some trouble at one of the Schools.
All the infants were swabbed and some carriers found;
after this there were no more cases.
This shows a Zymotic death rate of 41 per 1,000, and
a percentage of 3.4 of the deaths from all causes.
