General
Notifications in 1971 totalled 701, compared with 985 for the
previous year. The reduction was mainly due to the fall in measles
notifications from 738 to 427, although 1971 should have been a peak
year for this disease. Apparently the measles immunisation campaign,
now in its second year, is beginning to affect the incidence of the
disease.
