even nonagenarians are to be found among them but the 32
deaths from tuberculosis, 19 of whom are under 35 have hardly
begun to live and their withdrawal from the community just as
they begin to reach their highest productive potential accentuates
the seriousness of the mortality from this disease.
There were 26 deaths from tuberculosis of the respiratory
system, 15 males and 11 females, and there were 6 deaths from
non-respiratory tuberculosis of whom 3 were males and 3 females,
giving a total number of deaths of 32 as against 42 in 1946 and
45 in 1945.
