The total deaths from all causes was 611 and the total live
births 1,345, giving therefore a natural increase in population of
734.
The appended table sets out the comparison for the past five years of the local infant mortality rate with that for England and Wales: —

Once again a further decrease in the number of illegitimate
births was recorded during the year. Details of the arrangements
