Camping Sites. There are no sites in the District used as
camping grounds.
Swimming Baths and Pools. There are no swimming
baths in the District at the present time. The Council have
under consideration plans for the erection of a public bath.
Disinfestation. Details of the premises found to be bug
infested and the manner in which they are treated are given
in the Sanitary Inspector's Report.
When hydrogen cyanide is used, the work is undertaken
by a private firm under contract. The Council's staff carry
out the other methods employed.
The homes of prospective tenants of Council houses are
visited and where found to be verminous, appropriate action
is taken to cleanse the household effects before removal,
either by hydrogen cyanide fumigation or less drastic
methods, depending on the degree of infestation. Tenants
known to have been verminous are kept under frequent
supervision.
Cemeteries. Work is now in progress in laying out the
33 acre site in Lower Morden which was acquired by the
Council for burial purposes in 1927.
Schools. The public elementary and secondary schools
are under the control of the Surrey County Council.
The Department works in co-operation with the County
School Medical Service in the control of infectious disease and
in all sanitary matters affecting the health of school children.
Policy is based on the recommendations contained in the
"Memorandum on Closure and Exclusion from School 1927"
issued conjointly by the Ministry of Health and Board of
Education.
The sanitary conditions and water supply of the schools
are satisfactory.
