the Clinics during
the year 1,426 51 89
(b) Total number of
women who attended
at the
Clinics during
the year 169 252 43 75
These figures taken in conjunction with those in respect
of the Council's Clinics show that 82 per cent. of the babies
born in the district and 62 per cent. of the expectant mothers
received skilled medical supervision under clinic arrangements.
Health Visiting. An additional Health Visitor was
appointed in April bringing the staff of Visitors up to
five. The number of fixed clinic sessions which the Visitors
attended during the year was 687 as compared with 538 in
1937, an increase of 149. It will be seen, therefore, that in
spite of the additional appointment, the aggregate time available
for home visiting was not increased thereby when account
is taken of the increased number of infants.
