The new cases admitted to the tuberculosis register during the year numbered 70 classified as follows:—

Of the total additions, 28 were primary notifications, 41 were transferred
from other districts and 1 came to notice in other ways.
In the same period, 140 names were removed from the register for the
following reasons:—

Otherwise (including removals) 68
After allowing for the additions and deductions, the state of the
register at the 31st December, 1959, was as shown in the following table:—

The total of 666 is 70 less than at the corresponding date twelve months
earlier.
The number of patients from Carshalton who received institutional
treatment under the arrangements of the South-West Metropolitan Hospital
Board during the year was 50.
