extension of the scheme to include all persons born in 1933 and since and
to include a third injection after an interval of seven months to those who
had already received two. During the last quarter of the year work was
concentrated on giving these third injections and treatment of the over
15 year group had barely begun by the end of the year.

Oneparticular experience duringthe year demonstrated very forcibly the
value of providing the maximum degree of convenience as a means of inducing
the public to accept a preventive medical service. Until well into 1958
the very limited supplies of vaccine precluded the carrying out of treatment
in school premises, since in fairness, individuals were offered treatment
in the order of registration. However with the more liberal supplies which
became available and with the co-operation of the Head Teachers, it was
possible to offer the 3rd injections to school children who had previously
had two in the schools during school hours. In the programme of school
