Mass X-Ray
The Mass Miniature X-Ray Unit of the Hospital Board did not visit
the Urban District during the year. The last time it operated in the area
being November/December, 1955.
Carshalton T.B. Care Committee
This voluntary Committee continued to assist local tuberculous
patients and their families as it has done for the last twenty years. Its
services are of inestimable value to the successful operation of the antituberculosis
scheme, since they give domestic and social relief in innumerable
ways not possible under the arrangements of the statutorily constituted
bodies. The total disbursements by the Committee during the year
was little short of £600. Administrative costs do not include the services
of the officers and members which are entirely voluntary. The annual
report of the Committee shews that among the many forms of assistance
were included the following :
Holidays lor patients and their children, a sum of no less than £230
being spent on this item.
Grants of clothing and bedding.
Help to maintain insurance premiums.
Payment of wireless licences, removal expenses, fares to hospital and
training centres.
Hire purchase payments for domestic equipment and domestic fuel.
Grants of pocket money for patients in hospital and materials and
text books for occupational therapy.
Loans of equipment e.g. typewriters, bed tables, deck chairs, etc.
Financial loans to re-establish businesses.
In addition to direct help from the funds raised by itself, the Committee
enlists all the help available from the many statutory and voluntary
agencies who co-operate wholeheartedly in this valuable work.
